Highlighting the Refugee Crisis

There is no question that the world is experiencing a large-scale refugee crisis. In the last two years, there has been a 63% increase in people needing humanitarian assistance. In the last year, over 100 million people have been forced to flee their homes (International Rescue Committee, 2022). With natural and man-made disasters appearing more frequently than ever before in history, the refugee crisis is not going away. The world needs a sustainable solution to this growing problem.

Children deserve to grow up in homes with real walls, confident they have their own bed to sleep in. They deserve to fall asleep peacefully, without the threat of violence or danger. They deserve a place to call home. Parents deserve to be able to lock the doors at night and be confident that their home will keep them safe. They deserve the opportunity to sit at a table with their children and help with their school work after making dinner in their very own kitchen. Families deserve doors, walls, beds, and locks on their doors no matter their race, religion, home country, or political beliefs.

Nobody would question the statement that ‘Everyone deserves a home.’ Yet, the world sits idly by while hundreds of thousands of children sleep on a tent floor with no hope of a better future. Kauri Foundation is determined to do better. Within weeks, Kauri Foundation can provide these families with scalable and sustainable homes where they can grow and thrive. With the resources to provide safe and dignified shelter to those in need, why wait another day?
