Interview With Carl Ladd, Director of Bethel Global Response - Part 2
Bethel Global Response sets a high standard for disaster response missions. Their standard of prioritizing the expertise of the local church has been exemplified through their work in Ukraine. Since soon after the beginning of the war, Bethel Global Response has been pouring into the local churches and pastors who they see as the true heroes. To do everything in their power to provide for the pastors and Ukrainians, Carl and Bethel Global Response have determined to help for as long as it takes. "As long as they've got the need, we're going to keep doing what we can. As long as we have the financial ability and the local people on the ground, we're going to be serving."
Carl's heart for every person to hear the love of Jesus is so evident in the work that they have been doing. "We have evacuated a few hundred people and done about 2.5 million pounds (lbs) of food into Ukraine in partnership with Mercy Chef's", one of BGR's partner organizations. Carl and his team currently serve between 600 and 900 families a week, providing food and water to communities who previously had to drink out of puddles. Still, Carl attributes all the success to the local churches and pastors who have used up all their personal resources to provide food and water to suffering Ukrainians. "These pastors refuse to say no when people have a need. They are partnering and engaging with Jesus."
