Holidays might look different for every culture and household, but all cultures understand the importance of taking time out of our everyday routine to celebrate and rest. Holidays bond cultures, families, and communities together in a way that nothing else can. Celebrating holidays that are important to you can create a sense of belonging, and structure is more necessary now than ever. Xygalatas (2017) goes so far as to say that the predictability of holidays fights against anxiety.

For those that have a home and a family to celebrate with, holidays are beautiful and comforting traditions! What about the families or individuals that don't have that coveted sense of belonging and routine? This year, millions of families will do their best to celebrate important holidays without a home. These celebrations will look different for every family. Many will skip the holidays because without a place to call home, how can they focus on elaborate meals and presents? Others will do their best to continue to share their family's traditions with their children, despite the conditions.

Kauri Foundation desires every family worldwide to have a safe and dignified place to celebrate the holidays and customs that are important to them! Every family deserves a place to celebrate traditions from their ancestors and pass down new traditions to their children. Every family deserves a place to call home.
