The Cost of Natural Disasters

On average, there are about 6,800 natural disasters that happen every year worldwide. Disasters are costly, both in human lives and financially. Twenty-two of the natural disasters that occurred in the USA in 2020 cost at least $1 billion in damages and repairs. (NOAA) One-fifth of people affected by natural disasters have no emergency funds saved to rebuild after a natural disaster occurs. (The Zebra)

At the Kauri Foundation, we’ve created a home system that bridges the gap between temporary and permanent dwellings. Our homes are designed to meet or exceed local building code requirements to ensure the safety and comfort of the occupants. Our modularization design and flat pack approach allows for maximum transportation efficiency and reduces carbon footprints. Our design allows us to offer homes between 6 & 111 sq.m (64 & 1200 sq. ft) while adaptable to the deployment topography and local climate.

We make it our daily mission to provide each development project with a customized, culturally competent local approach. The result is we can create both homes and economic development. Our mission is to make sure everyone has a safe, secure, dignified home - regardless of what disaster they’ve gone through. Join us in building homes, and subsequently building hope, in post-disaster communities around the world! Visit www.kaurifoundation.org to participate.
