An Economy Within An Economy

At the Kauri Foundation, we’re not just interested in providing a viable post-disaster housing solution. We look to re-establish local economy, breathe life into the land, and assist people in re-building their livelihoods.

Our housing systems are delivered flat-packed as “blank canvas” structures that can be individualized to meet the resident’s culture, lifestyle, and daily living needs, while giving them the ability to be self-sustaining. We work in conjunction with the community, so that the home building is facilitated by licensed contractors who finalize locations, oversee, guide, educate and ensure safety. Our vision is for the future residents to participate in their own home ‘build’, so that they have an investment in their own futures. As they participate in the construction, they’ll also master the skills required to maintain their home.

We like to call this “Whole Community Resilience Development”. We’re not providing a temporary housing solution - we’re imparting trades and marketable skills in the community while building the structures. We’re providing leadership and community development opportunities, with positive impacts that will last for years to come.

Communities are often left dazed and confused in the wake of disaster. The Kauri Foundation, in collaboration with NGOs and local social resources, offer a lifeline with a scalable solution that will establish local economy and give residents the opportunity to dream again.

Our mission is Bringing Land to Life, and a way we accomplish this is by building an economy within an economy. Join us in enabling post-disaster communities to thrive in the aftermath of disaster
