Children Need A Home

Adverse Childhood Experiences, or ACEs, are negative experiences that a child might have, such as mental illness in the home, neglect or abuse, family homelessness, or housing instability. Experiencing these traumas makes the child more likely to develop psychological and physical health problems as they grow up. These results are partly because poor living conditions also increase the risk of mold exposure and poor quality food and water and partly because of the "prolonged or excessive activation of the stress response system" (National Conference of State Legislatures, 2022).

Children need "safe, stable, and nurturing relationships and communities to help build resilience… (and) improve mental health" (NCLS, 2022). These needs are why the Kauri Foundation does what it does. Equally as important, they are mold resistant and give the option for families to grow their own food and store rainwater; taking off huge expenses from a family's monthly budget and encouraging long-term growth and sustainability. Kauri Foundation places a significant priority on providing children and families with the opportunity to be resilient and successful long-term.  These homes provide a safe, secure, and stable physical environment for children to grow and learn. Join us as we change the future for good!
